The Dusk Of NightCirrus

Welcome to NightCirrus.

This was an idea I had years ago to salvage some of the many trashed projects I had, its main ancestor was the website Neoncity, a sandbox I made to test out some dev abilities. I'm not really a persistent person so I abandoned it, but in every day to come I wouldn't forget the concept of showing off small or even big projects in a place for people all over the world to check! So, one day, I decided to make a blog... I learned PHP, a very forbidden type of black magic, and made Neonnest rise.

Neonnest was a delicate matter, it almost made me insane as most front-end frameworks [takes care of the website's external interface in the client (your computer)] were not compatible with my back-end workflow [takes care of the guts of the server (the nice computer that will hand the website to your computer), nasty job]. It cannot be stated into words how much tool devs love Node.js server-side solution and forget about every other one, in the same way art software engineers do with Apple's products. This was a bummer because I hated Node with every inch of my soul.

When it was decent enough function-wise, meaning I could post posts, comment comments and some more fun stuff, I realized that I had build a skyscraper without foundation. My code was ugly and giant, even commenting had a unnecessarily complex system! And not to forget the lots of MacGyvering throughout it, if I stared at them for just another second I would go totally mad, so I went into a hiatus.

After some time of only using pure PHP like a lumberjack with a dull axe, I gave in and installed a nice tool called Symfony, which was the best decision I could make. Anyone can use Symfony, and it's the best! You create whole pages with complex functionality using simple commands in the Terminal, how cool is that? Even a kid can use it and achieve great success, so I worked to remake Neonnest with better design principles and tooling.

During the process of remaking it I grew tired of the name so I changed it to NightCirrus, why? I like Night and Cirrus, and the combination sounded nice so I kept it. I'm a huge sky fan, the photo in the background was taken by me myself! I made a new visual identity which was way more creative than anything I had done before, and just like that, I was ready to go!

But... well, my computer broke, and I lost the code, but this was no problem for me! I already recreated many projects before and was more than willing to recreate this one using only my phone! Except... well, I had no way to host it. So thinking on an alternative way to bring the site to life while I couldn't pay for a host I remembered Blogger, a platform I used as a kid to make weird science blogs. I opened my account, created a new blog, customized it and ta-daa! Here's it! For real!

As the website has been delayed many times over the course of 4 years, NightCirrus' idea has turned into some kind of "project library", I have a much bigger range in my mind than just having a simple blog. However, I will take some time to execute everything I want, so until there I hope I can make this blog a cozy place to talk about tech projects.

In any way, thanks for reading this terrible rant, and welcome!
